Insurance Claims

Auto Accident

In the event of an accident remember to stay calm. Accidents happen, and that's why you have insurance. The first thing to remember is always contact the police, emergency or fire department depending on the severity of the accident. If the incident occurs on private property, exchange information with the other party and ask to see verification that the information you are given is correct. Never admit fault. Accidents are just that--accidents! Contact your insurance company directly via the number listed on your insurance card.

Fire

Your responsibility is to prevent further damage from happening. If you have a pipe that has burst, make sure you turn off the water to prevent further damage form occurring. If your residence is unsafe to live in, make other living arrangements. If repair is necessary before you are able to contact a claims adjuster, make sure you save all receipts and take pictures of the damage before it is repaired. Contact the claims number on your policy, or call your agent to get your insurance company's phone number.

Remember...

Reporting a claim takes time, so call your claim in when you have about 20 minutes to spare, and have all documents at hand to make the reporting process go smoothly. Always contact your agent with any problems you are having with your claims experience.
